Making Better Use of Old Office Furniture

A practical step towards less waste

A workplace transformation often begins with removing what is already in place.

Old workstations, desks and joinery may no longer suit the needs of a business, but that does not mean every component should be treated as waste. At Sensa, we take a more considered approach to the way old office furniture is removed, sorted and handled during a project.

When workstations are replaced, our team carefully disassembles them so the different materials can be separated. Metal components, such as frames, legs and brackets, are sent to recyclers rather than being sent to landfill.

Timber tops are also assessed for future use. Where suitable, they are cut down, sorted and stored so they can be repurposed in selected projects.

In many cases, these timber components can be used within wall construction, where they support joining, fixing and insulation backing. These elements may not be visible in the finished workspace, but they still play a practical role in the project.

This approach is not about restoring old furniture or reusing every item in its original form. It is about reducing unnecessary waste and making better use of the materials already available.

For clients, it is a simple but meaningful way to make a workplace transformation more responsible. It helps reduce landfill, supports smarter material recovery and encourages better decisions throughout the fitout process.

At Sensa, we believe good workplace delivery should make sense at every stage. That includes what happens to the materials we remove, not just the new spaces we create.

We have helped many businesses create intelligent workspaces. We would love to help you too!
