Launch Housing is a compassionate social service organisation dedicated to finding housing for the homeless.
When they expanded their operations in Cheltenham, they reached out to us for the new office fitout. The premises they acquired for this office was previously a bank, lending it some unique characteristics.

When we had our first discovery session with Launch Housing team, we discovered that the entire existing fitout needs to be stripped. As it was previously a bank, there was a vault and the reception are had automatic steel security bars
This project was different to any other usual office fitout projects.
Because of the diverse demographic of Launch Housing’s service seekers, the new office required integrate specialised security features of its own.
Design
The reception area was designed to reflect the office’s commitment to hospitality. The open plan operation office is separated by a discreet one-way mirror providing the back-office staff with constant visual oversight of the front counter activities.
The consultation rooms are strategically placed encircling the central reception area. We paid special attention in optimising the desk orientations for efficiency and functionality, while prioritising egress pathways.
At the back office, we created an inviting lunch zone to encourage a harmonious balance between work and rejuvenation. The area is separated from the main workstations by a transparent glass partition.
Deliver
To make the place interesting the bank vault was transformed into a breakout area. However, that came with its challenges. The thick metal vault had to be drilled through to create a ventilation duct. The teller area had automatic anti-theft projection bars that had to be removed as well.
Every front desk including the reception is fitted with hidden duress buttons, enabling prompt alerts to the back-office team during emergencies.
This new office symbolises Launch Housing’s unwavering commitment to its staff and clients. The Launch Housing team will experience a work environment that both energises and uplifts their motivation. Simultaneously, clients will be embraced by a space that extends a heartfelt welcome, promoting a sense of dignity and hope.
